Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is oversight Quality Assuarance Technicians (Processing, Powder, Dock Lab, Yoghurt and Fat), planning for work to ensure proper controls are in place in terms of cost, raw materials and as per the set guidelines.

Key duties and responsibilities

  1. Maintain complaint and non-conformance processing through records and tracking systems, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions;
  2. Document quality assurance activities with internal reporting;
  3. Conduct audits of the company policies to ensure compliance with health and safety standards;
  4. Update and improve quality control procedures in response to changes in technology or industry standards;
  5. Monitor the performance of team members to ensure that they are performing their jobs effectively;
  6. Supervise the fumigation of the dairy plant;
  7. Review reports generated by computerized equipment to identify defects or other problems that may affect product quality;
  8. Observe production processes and ensure that they are being carried out within the prescribed SOPs or operational guidelines;
  9. Conduct research on new technology that could improve operations within the factory;
  10. Report any issues with equipment or processes to the appropriate section for correction;
  11. Plan, execute, and oversee product inspection and testing for quality and conformance to specifications and deliverables;
  12. Assist the QA Manager by tracking, documenting, and reporting quality levels as well as CSR, environmental, and health and safety KPIs;
  13. Investigate reports of product quality issues and ensure resolution in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements;
  14. Develop or update procedures for capture, investigation, and documentation of product complaints;
  15. Monitor risk-management procedures, maintain problem logs, and report issues to managers and product developers;
  16. Provide training and support to quality assurance team members that covers systems, policies, procedures, and core processes; and
  17. Any other responsibilities assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  • Diploma in food processing technology, food science from a recognized institution
  • Professional certification, such as Six Sigma, CQE, or CQA
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an FMCG industry in a busy environment

  • Deep knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
  • Superb computer skills, including database management
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in best practices for testing, version control, and defect management
  • Understanding of agile/scrum methodology and how QA functions within it
  • Knowledge on chemical preparation
  • Analytical skills
  • Knowledgeable in food safety and hygiene standards
  • Communication skills

Responsibility for finances and physical assets

  • The job holder has no responsibility for equipment, finances or stock except for the work tools and stocks assigned
