REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in Nursing/Clinical Medicine with subspeciality in oncology
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in implementing public health programs (RMNACH, Oncology programs) and related intervention.
  • Ability and self-discipline to work with minimum or no supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written);
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, & MS Outlook) and the Internet application
  • Able to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-driven environment
  • Supports a customer-centered approach to programs, services, and systems
  • Willing to travel to the field extensively


The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. AKHK has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa - Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili, Nyamira and an upcoming Medical Centre in Kabarnet.

PROJECT COORDINATOR   
 
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The Responsibility will involve coordination of implementation of project activities that will include HPV Vaccination, Cervical/Breast cancer screenings and Treatment and capacity development for health workers and community health promoters in western Kenya . Under the guidance the Manager, Plan, coordinate, and execute Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu East Africa Comprehensive Cancer Project in counties in Western Kenya region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the overall implementation and day to day operations of the Comprehensive cancer Project (Cervical and Breast cancer screening, HPV Vaccination, Chemotherapy treatment, awareness creation on cancer and HPV Vaccination) project including planning/coordinating,  field supervision to the health facility teams/community health promoters in terms of service delivery and capacity development.
  • Support in planning, organizing and conducting trainings and capacity building and mentorship initiatives for all program supported teams including healthcare workers, Community Health Volunteers to support implementation of project activities
  • Work with the implementing team and Program Manager to plan, construct and manage project budgets.
  • Support the beneficiary health facilities to manage equipment, commodities and supplies inventory, ordering, and distribution of supplies.
  • Provide technical assistance to the project on oncology activities.
  • Ensuring robust and supportive referral practices are in place for patients
  • suspected of having cancer; including use of guidelines, professional development, and safety netting of those referred
  • Ensure technical rigor of program data collection, management, analysis and reporting. Collaborate with the M&E Officer and Program Manager to ensure that the quality of dashboards and reports – represent and evolve with the project.
  • Participate in routine monitoring of mobile clinics and facility visits to identify gaps in quality assurance and ensure program goals are achieved
  • In close collaboration with the Project Manager and M&E to ensure project related data is collected and utilized to reinforce enhancement of patient management interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate implementation of program activities to identify gaps and challenges that should be taken into account in order to develop and implement more innovative and integrated programming
  • Coordinate relevant stakeholder engagement to address training, on Work closely with MOH County Health Departments in the region to ensure cooperation as well as integration with county health and development plans, priorities, systems and service delivery structures
  • Liaise with county governments and other operational partners in the region via attendance at meetings, Technical Working Groups, consultations, and other forums with the objective of advocacy for Cervical & Breast cancer care identifying and building upon opportunities for collaboration that align with AKHK Goals
