We are seeking a Communications Manager to be responsible for developing and executing the organisation’s communication strategy across multiple channels, including reports, newsletters, website content, social media, and media outreach. This role will ensure the effective communication of the organisation’s mission, projects, and impact while aligning with donor requirements. The Communications Manager will also leads the development of compelling content, oversees branding consistency, and ensures high-quality storytelling through various media formats.
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communication & Content Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to enhance the organisation’s visibility and engagement.
- Create, edit, and manage high-quality content for reports, newsletters, websites, and social media.
- Ensure messaging consistency, accuracy, and alignment with the organisation’s mission and objectives.
- Work with different teams to translate complex programmatic information into compelling narratives.

Project Documentation & Donor Communication:
- Ensure adequate coverage and documentation of all organisational projects, highlighting key milestones and impact.
- Develop donor reports, success stories, and case studies that align with funding requirements.
- Ensure all communication outputs meet donor branding and visibility guidelines.

Social Media & Digital Engagement:
- Manage and grow the organisation’s social media presence through strategic content planning and engagement.
- Monitor social media trends, track performance analytics, and optimise content for better reach and engagement.
- Develop and execute digital campaigns that support program objectives and advocacy efforts.

Public Relations & Media Outreach:
- Build and maintain relationships with media, partners, and key stakeholders to enhance the organisation’s reputation.
- Develop press releases, media briefs, and other PR materials to ensure positive media coverage.
- Act as the focal point for media inquiries and coordinate interviews and public appearances.

Website & Content Management:
- Oversee website content updates to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with organisational goals.
- Optimise website content for user engagement and search engine performance.
- Ensure all digital communication reflects the organisation’s branding and messaging.
6.
Visual Storytelling & Multimedia Production:
- Lead the production of high-quality visual content, including photography and videography, for storytelling and reporting.
- Collaborate with designers and external vendors to develop professional visual content.
- Maintain an organised archive of multimedia assets for internal and external use.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:
- Track and analyse communication metrics to assess effectiveness and inform improvements.
- Provide insights and reports on communication activities, including social media performance and audience engagement.
- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and enhance the impact of communication efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar communications role, preferably in an NGO or mission-driven organisation.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in social media management, digital marketing, and public relations.
- Proficiency in Canva is mandatory for content creation, but additional skills are also valued.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Familiarity with donor communication guidelines and reporting requirements is an advantage.
