The office of the Regional Vice President, Africa (CAFVP), is seeking to recruit an Adviser to the Vice President, based in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will report to the Regional Vice President, Africa, and work as a core member of the Front Office team. The Adviser advises and assists the Vice President in all aspects of the work of the Vice Presidency. The position therefore provides a unique opportunity to gain an overview of IFC’s operations, broader issues of strategy, organization, and financial management, and to interact with a wide range of people both inside and outside of the Corporation.
Duties & Accountabilities:
The position involves working closely with the Africa VPU’s leadership team, as well as other teams across IFC, the World Bank and MIGA. The Adviser’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide advice and assistance to the Vice President in all aspects of the work of the Vice Presidency.
• Coordinate Front Office operations including working with the Executive Assistant to manage the daily workflow of activities for the Vice President.
• Monitor, coordinate and oversee the planning, scheduling and logistics for VP meetings and travel.
• Prepare and attend meetings with - and on behalf of - the Vice President; and ensure appropriate follow through on subsequent actions, decisions, and commitments.
• Work with relevant teams to prepare and review briefs, presentations, speeches, talking points and other meeting materials as required.
• Coordinate inputs, analysis and recommendations on matters for the Vice President’s review and decision/action; and ensure timely flow of information and decisions to and from the Vice President’s office.
• Maintain close interaction with the IFC Management Team’s Front Offices, as well as those of World Bank and MIGA Vice Presidents covering the Africa region.
• Maintain regular contact with a wide range of staff and establish a program of systematic interaction with staff to stay abreast of emerging issues requiring the Vice President’s attention.
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy or another relevant field.
• Significant experience in IFC/WBG with a strong performance record at F2/G1 level.
• Robust experience working with on investment, advisory, or upstream projects including pipeline and/or portfolio analysis.
• Excellent understanding of the IFC 3.0 strategy; thorough knowledge of IFC/WBG operations.
• Familiarity with IFC strategic priorities including Fragility, Climate Change, Gender etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
• Ability to work under recurrent tight deadlines, handle multiple demands, and undertake unplanned tasks that require rapid turnaround.
• Excellent communications skills including demonstrated writing skills.
