1. Research:
- Actively participate in
implementation, research and development project activities in the Directorate
for Africa mostly TREPA, RESAf, GenZero, WSFS, GTCI and any other project
activities
- Support in the development of the
10-year deforestation rule report in project countries for the GenZero and
Restore Africa projects. Deforestation rule report developed for project
countries
- Support stakeholder engagement
workshops and snowballing of social network analysis for the Genzero Project
and identify key stakeholders.
- Undertake project mapping activities
for WSFS, GTCI, GCF Kenya, ReSAf and GenZero projects
2. Leadership and coordination:
- Support the transformative leadership
training and group capacity assessment for the Restore Africa Project.
- Develop ICT supported climate risk,
market information and knowledge products for climate resilience in value
chains for the TREPA Rwanda project. Tool/protocol for assessment of ITC use by
farmers and producer organizations.
3. Peer review of scientific and
non-scientific knowledge products:
- Lead/co-author publications and undertake literature reviews for
various research themes.
4. Networking and Collaboration:
- Participate in delivering effective presentations in professional
conferences to deliver technical or scientific information and build network
and professional relationships
5. Resource Mobilization:
- Contributing to resource mobilization and fundraising through
concept notes and proposal development.
6. Any other relevant responsibilities
allocated within the Africa Directorate.
Requirements
- A
Master's degree in climate change, environmental science, agricultural science,
or related field
- Minimum
of four (5) years of experience working on research and development projects
related to landscape restoration, climate change and livelihoods
- Minimum
of two (2) years of experience in implementing ecosystem-based adaptation and
climate change projects and working directly with communities
- Proven
record of skills in writing scientific and non-scientific publications
- Proficiency
in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Experience
with data collection, development and data management tools, including ODK,
Kobo Toolbox, and Microsoft Excel etc.
- Demonstrated
collaborative networking skills and building professional relationships
- Possession
of demonstrable skills in delivering effective presentations and participating
in professional conferences is considered a significant advantage
- Proficiency
in additional language(s) beyond English is preferable
- Experience
working in different landscapes
- Publications
in peer-reviewed journals is an advantage.
