We are seeking to recruit a competent, experienced, proactive and self-driven Litigation Associate to join our team. The suitable candidate should have strong and demonstrable experience in Civil and Commercial Litigation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Draft pleadings and any other legal documents necessary to effect any instructions received from clients;
Prepare and file legal documents at court registries, such as plans, statements of defenses, responses to claims, appeals, lists of documents and witnesses, witness statements, a bundle of documents, applications, etc.
Attend and manage hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court and judicial proceedings.
Effectively communicate with clients and the Managing Partner to understand the clientβs concerns and provide sound legal advice.
Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firmβs clients and offer advice to clients on any matters that are of concern to them.
Mentor junior Advocates, Lawyers, Interns, Pupils and other support staff.
Conduct legal research and analysis and provide legal opinions on various areas of law as may be assigned from time to time.
Work to protect the interests of clients & ensure they are protected against fraud and money laundering activities.
Sending terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements and following up on payment of fees and any monies from and on behalf of the Firm or its Clients and ensure compliance with the Firms Financial policies by any person under direct supervision.
Oversee the work of support staff, such as legal assistants, legal clerks and Legal Secretaries to enable efficient delivery of services.
Prepare reports and maintain the records of the Firm with respect to any of the Firm or Clientβs Business to enable monitoring and reporting to the management.
Support the Partners in Business Development and assist in client management, conduct regular client visits and support the clients to ensure the business of the Firm.
Requirements
Bachelorβs degree from a recognized institution.
An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holder of a current practicing certificate
Other professional certifications are desirable.
A minimum of 3 years post-admission experience. Knowledge, skills and attributes
