About the Role

The Investigations Coordinator will conduct and manage the investigation of minor fraud and misconduct cases and provide recommendations to senior staff members to make decisions related to recovery of losses, disciplinary action, and reporting to the police. You will be a part of the legal department and investigations team and will report directly to the minor fraud investigations specialist. This role is based in Kisumu and is hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an investigation into minor fraud and misconduct cases.
    • Conduct investigations of minor fraud and misconduct in Kenya.
    • Utilize investigation principles and techniques to independently conduct minor fraud and misconduct investigations.
    • Adhere to Legal Department guidelines and guidance on OKRs. 
  • Address our vulnerabilities to internal and external fraud.
    • Support the investigation specialist in preparing and conducting anti-fraud training for high-risk departments on a need basis.
    • Identify high-risk departments that may benefit from a fraud risk assessment. 
    • Conduct proper planning and execution of fraud risk assessments. 
    • Provide comprehensive reports outlining the fraud vulnerabilities, controls in place, and recommendations on process improvement and gaps closure
  • Support with police investigation and follow-up
    • Prepare external-facing reports and appendices that are tailored to enhance police understanding and follow-up.
    • Act as an important liaison with the police for the specific investigations conducted.
    • Be available to provide clarification to the police on the investigations conducted to improve the success rates of the cases for prosecution.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience in case investigations.
  • Any relevant certification: CPA, CFE, CFFE,
  • 2 years of experience in conducting investigations into different aspects of fraud and misconduct.
  • Computer literacy, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite
  • Fluency in English and Swahili.
  • Knowledge in fraud investigation principles and techniques.
