Intern - Service Delivery

We are excited to announce an opening for the role of Intern - Service Delivery at our nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to shaping the future of mental health. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the dissemination of Shamiri's mental health solutions to tens of thousands of Kenyan youths. By working towards ensuring that we are able to deliver efficient, effective programming, the intern plays a role in our organization's mission to enable African youths to thrive by making mental health interventions accessible.

About the role:

The Intern will work closely with the Deputy Directors and Associates on the dissemination of our mental health solutions to Kenyan high school youths. This will involve being part of recruitment processes to engage schools and applicants to our three-tier caregiving model (crucial in reaching as many youths as we can) and monitoring partnerships with other organizations to disseminate our solutions. Throughout their internship, projects are likely to be at different stages from long-term planning to on-the-ground overseeing of delivery. This will allow the Intern to have a well-rounded experience in project management at different stages of a project lifecycle.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Take part in managing all partnership-driven implementation efforts.
  • Take part in guidance and customer support provision to Shamiri partners throughout implementation of the Shamiri program.
  • Participate in sustaining and enhancing relationships with existing partners and cultivate relationships with potential new partners.
  • Participate in formulating and executing project plans, including resource allocation, timeline, and budget.
  • Participate in identifying and mitigating project risks and issues.
  • Participate in developing Shamiri program packages and marketing materials to guide partner implementation.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for various roles, including planning, application processing, and recruitment material preparation.
  • Take part in the development of implementation and recruitment reports and consumable decks as per the organization's standards.
  • Collaborate with the Service Delivery Team to develop recruitment-related budgets, operation plans, and Gantt charts for the programs department.
  • Provide implementation support for Shamiri programs in line with the Organization’s strategic plan.
  • Participate in training, workshops, and supervision sessions organized by the Service Delivery Team or the Shamiri Institute.
  • Take part in any other duties allocated as deemed appropriate to the Supervisor.

About Shamiri Institute

We are a youth-led organization that is shaping the future of mental health by making it affordable for all, personalized to an individual’s needs and circumstances, and integrated within existing systems of caregiving and community life. This will help to build a future where young people can thrive across the African continent. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Shamiri was founded in 2018 at Harvard University by award-winning Kenyan entrepreneur and community – mobilizer Tom Osborn and rising global mental health researcher Katherine Venturo-Conerly. Since our founding in 2018, we have worked with more than 10,000 youths in secondary schools across Kenya. Through our work, young people have experienced a 40% improvement in mental health and wellbeing, a 14% improvement in social relations, and a 3% improvement in academic grades.
