Overview:
The Head of Sales East Africa will be responsible for leading the sales function, driving strategic business development, and achieving revenue goals across the East Africa region. This role requires a strong understanding of the construction chemicals industry, including flooring, and involves significant travel within the region to ensure effective market penetration and customer engagement.
The Head of Sales is expected to maintain professional ethics, comply with company and regulatory policies, and act with the highest levels of honesty, integrity, and respect for all stakeholders. This individual will align with the company's mission, vision, core values, priorities, and brand promise to drive sustainable growth and team development.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Leadership:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve regional business objectives and revenue targets.
- Identify market opportunities and create tailored approaches to capitalize on trends and customer needs.
- Collaborate with leadership to define regional priorities and align efforts with company goals.
Business Development:
- Build and expand the company's market presence by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Foster strong relationships with architects, contractors, distributors, and other key stakeholders.
- Champion specification efforts to ensure company products are included in major projects.
Revenue Generation:
- Lead the sales team in achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Manage regional sales budgets to ensure optimal resource utilization and maximize ROI.
- Monitor and evaluate sales performance, making adjustments as needed to meet objectives.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and technical knowledge.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Market Insights and Development:
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand regional trends, competitive landscape, and customer preferences.
- Develop market expansion plans and strategies for penetrating new geographies within East Africa.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to execute campaigns and increase product visibility.
Travel and Engagement:
- Travel extensively within East Africa to engage with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Conduct on-site visits and product demonstrations to strengthen relationships and drive sales.
Nonessential Job Functions:
- Perform other directly related duties and accountabilities as delegated, including mutually agreed-upon objectives.
Job Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction chemicals or related industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies and achieving revenue targets.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of the East Africa market, construction chemicals, and related products.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
- Multilingual skills relevant to the East Africa region are a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively across the region.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- A master's degree or MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant technical certifications or training in construction chemicals or related products are an advantage.
Travel:
- Ability to travel extensively across East Africa to meet business needs and build strong relationships
