Job Purpose:
• The Head of HR is responsible for leading the HR function for the designated territory, acting as the Senior HR Business Partner to Management, and executing Human Resources function end-to-end activities, in compliance with global & regional policies and guidelines
• Directs human resources activities, such as talent management & development, recruitment, compensation & benefits, labour relations, and other HR services.
• Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources function, and ensures compliance

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Defining HR strategy for the territory, in alignment with Business and Regional HR strategies
• Responsible for the coordination and controlling of the Annual Personnel Planning & HR budget in the territory, to achieve an optimal resource management
• Implementing HR corporate & regional guidelines and concepts within the entity
• Leading the organization design, review and effectiveness in partnership with management, and implements needed changes, in accordance with internal guidelines
• Leading the Talent & Development agenda for the territory, leveraging global, regional and external best practices
• Acting as a culture change champion, leads employee engagement in partnership with management
• Building change management capability, and acts as change management lead and subject matter expert with regards to Organization effectiveness & HR topics
• Managing the performance management process within the organization to create a high-performance culture
• Acting as HR leader, responsible for end-to-end team management, develops and grows HR capability
• Directing and executing seamlessly end to end HR operations and activities for the territory (ie. Recruitment, C&B, performance management, Payroll, labor relations and HR compliance, onboarding), in compliance with the Delegation of Authority, and local regulations
• Acting as HR coach, and advisor for the leadership team and managers HR practices, activities and processes, enabling better people management decisions
• Advising management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and disciplinary action
• Responsible for Expats Management in the territory in close cooperation with the corporate HR
• Developing, reviewing and improving HR policies & procedures for the territory, in compliance with global and regional policies and legal requirements
• Ensuring the company is a competitive employer through active benchmarking of compensation and benefits offered in the markets
• Building a strong HR network to gather data about market conditions with regards compensation and benefits
• Contributing to regional and global HR projects, and rolling out global & regional HR initiatives in the territory
• Leading local HR projects and initiatives as required and needed for business growth
• Identifying & complying with legal requirements and government reporting regulations
• Responsible for effectively and clearly communicating all relevant human resources policies to employees, ensuring accurate interpretation and implementation
• Managing external HR suppliers to provide needed employee & HR services
• Facilitating and Co-ordinating the effective implementation and running of the Health and Safety committee and ensure standards are maintained in line with best practice
• Representing the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations

Requirements

Qualification, Experience, Behaviours & Skills

Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in HR, Business Administration, or Organizational Psychology (Master's degree preferred).

Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of HR experience, including experience in a global HR environment (matrix organization and centralized functions).
• Knowledge and experience with Kenyan, Ethiopian and Tanzanian labour legislation and institutions.
