Position: Gender and Inclusion, Junior level (Talent Pool)

Experience: 1-3 years

Location: Multiple (Kenya and Global)

Roles within the Talent Pool include, but are not limited to:

  • Program Assistant/Coordinator
  • Gender Research Assistant
  • Gender Advocacy Assistant
  • Training and capacity-building assistant
  • Gender Communications Assistant
  • Project Officer (Gender Focus)
  • Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) Delegate

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of gender-sensitive humanitarian programs.
  • Contribute to the design and adaptation of program activities to ensure they are inclusive and address the specific needs of women, girls, and other marginalized groups.
  • Support the integration of gender equality and social inclusion principles across all stages of program cycle management. 
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in analyzing data to identify gender disparities, vulnerabilities, and barriers to inclusion within targeted communities.
  • Engage with local communities to understand their perspectives, priorities, and challenges related to gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Support community-led initiatives that promote gender equality, women's empowerment, and social cohesion.
  • Support the development of advocacy materials and campaigns.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops on gender mainstreaming, gender-based violence prevention, and other relevant topics.
  • Contribute to advocacy efforts aimed at promoting gender equality, women's rights, and social inclusion within humanitarian response.
  • Assist in preparing monitoring reports, case studies, and success stories documenting key achievements and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with other organizations, government agencies, and civil society partners working on gender and inclusion issues.
  • Ensure that gender-disaggregated data is collected, analyzed, and reported accurately to inform decision-making and accountability.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience (internships included) are preferred.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality, human rights, and social justice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience or internship in gender and inclusion, humanitarian assistance, or related fields is an asset.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, UN working languages, Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian is an advantage. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.
