Position: Disaster and Risk Reduction Internship (Global Talent Pool)
Experience: 0–1 year
Location: Global
Industries: Humanitarian, NGO, INGO
Responsibilities:
Assist with research on disaster risks and vulnerabilities in specific regions or countries
Compile and analyze data on past disasters, including economic and social impacts
Contribute to the development of risk assessments and maps
Support the creation of communication materials on disaster preparedness and risk reduction (e.g., presentations, flyers, social media content)
Assist with organizing workshops or training sessions on disaster risk reduction for communities
Help with the development or implementation of disaster risk reduction programs
Assist in fundraising efforts for disaster preparedness initiatives
Conduct research on best practices in disaster risk reduction
Assist with monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction programs
Contribute to reports on disaster risk reduction progress and challenges
Stay updated on current trends and issues in disaster risk reduction
Provide administrative support to the disaster risk reduction team as needed

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (final year) or possessing a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, geography, public health, or social sciences
Master's degree in a related field may be an asset
Experience is not always required, but prior experience in disaster risk reduction, research, or project management is a plus
Volunteer experience in disaster relief or community development is also valuable
Strong communication, research, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and self-motivated skills
Understanding of DRR principles, data analysis skills, research skills, and proficiency in basic data analysis tools
Familiarity with project management principles and GIS software may be beneficial for some positions
Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic) is a strong asset
Strong commitment to disaster risk reduction and building community resilience
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong cultural sensitivity and adaptability
Proficiency in using standard computer software applications
