We are seeking a highly motivated individual dedicated to culinary excellence to join our restaurant team as a Chef Assistant. As part of our back-of-house team, you will help to prep ingredients, sauces, dressings, and any special items. You will help prepare dishes and assist the head chef, as well as help in cleaning and organizing the prep area and marking items to be reordered.
Responsibilities
1. Manage food inventory and assist the head chef with menu development.
2. Attain a broad knowledge of ingredient functionality in diverse culinary applications and comfort in a culinary setting.
3. Prep vegetables and meat for head chefs, wash and dry dishes, cups, and utensils, and stock new shipments.
4. Maintain cleanliness and ensure proper preparation of orders.
5. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and maintenance, temperatures and organization.
6. Prepare and provide quality cuisine and other managerial duties as assigned.
7. Assist in the development and execution of corporate procedures and policies for a substantial for-profit culinary establishment.
8. Own and operate a successful gourmet restaurant/bakery/catering service
Requirements
1. Professional experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
2. Prior experience as an assistant chef.
3. Formal culinary training
4. Valid food handler's permit
5. Excellent self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised
6. Strong multitasking and organizational skills
